Are you kidding me?

So, we went in to get Kenlee's cast of today....and things didn't turn out the way we wanted. We had to leave at 8 for our 9:30 appointment due to the snow and bad road conditions. We made it to our appointment by 9:20 and then Kenlee had her x-rays done by 9:45. I think it was around 9:50 or so when we were waiting in the waiting area and Kenlee fell right in to a flower pot. When I picked her up I noticed she was starting to bleed for her nose. As I looked closer...I noticed a big cut in her nose and it looked as if the cut went all the way through her nostril. Kevin took her and Grandma Lynette and I tried to grab a wipe to contain the blood. We ran in to the orthopedic office and asked them where we can go or what we could do. We ended up heading to the ER. We had a couple hospital officers stop by and take pictures of Kenlee's accident and we had to show them what happened and where. They wrote up a report and I am not sure what happens now. Thanks goodness for Grandma Lynette. She took care of the report and showed the officers where the accident happened. I was a complete mess and I think it upset Kenlee. When she saw me crying she would cry. So, I took her and tried to calm down so she would be okay. After two nurses, a doctor and a Ear Nose Throat specialist...we were able to determine that stitches were not needed. In fact, they would probably do more harm than good. So, we have to keep antibiotic ointment on it for a week and see how she is doing.
After our ER experience, we went back upstairs and they were able to take her cast off! Thanks goodness...the day wasn't a total loss!
We got home and had Kenlee take her first steps without her cast and she is doing well. We took a bath (she was in there for about 45 minutes) :) and now she is all over the place. She keeps looking down at her leg wondering where her cast went. We love you Kenlee!

Kenlee's First Cast

Tuesday morning we had an appointment with Dr. Kelly. He said there was definitely something wrong with Kenlee's leg and that he wanted us to have the best care possible, so he made us an appointment with Primary Children's Hospital in their orthopedics. We went Wednesday to our appointment and they checked her leg, took x-rays, and casted her all within an hour. They said she fractured her left tibia. It is common fracture referred to as a "trampoline fracture". She got a cute, bright pink cast from her upper thigh to her ankle. We go back on December 30 to get more x-rays and to hopefully get the cast off. The cast hasn't seemed to stop her at all!

California and a Fall

We took our first family trip to Dana Point, CA and boy was it exciting....in several ways. Kevin, Kenlee and I flew down (on her first flight) on Tuesday, December 1. Kenlee was really good on the flight and was really excited when she saw the airplane. Wednesday was full of fun. We woke up, went to Ralph's grocery store, came back and took Kenlee to the beach. She absolutely loved it! She ran straight for the water, laughed, got pummeled, and loved it so much she kept signing "more" as she was shivering.

Then we went to dinner at the Chart House (our favorite) and came home to relax.

Thursday around 3 a.m. my family arrived. Then that morning around 8:30, I was carrying Kenlee down the stairs and I slipped and fell. When I fell, Kenlee cried, I freaked out and we didn't know if she was hurt or not. My dad took her and tried to console her...so did my mom. When my mom tried to put her down, Kenlee just collapsed to the floor and started crying. I knew something was really wrong. We gave her some Tylenol and a bath and that helped for a moment. We then took her to an UrgentCare and they thought it was her hip - so they x-rayed her hip and there was no breaks. So, we were told to giver her Motrin and haver her rest. they said if by Monday she wasn't walking to bring her back in.

So, the next day we went to Disneyland. Kenlee was still not walking, but was in great spirits. We rode Peter Pan first,

then Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, the Carousel, Storybook, Pirates of the Caribbean, saw Pluto and then went to lunch and California Adventure Land.

There we went on Monster's Inc. and the ride broke down so we had to get out and walk. Then we saw Mickey Mouse, went to Bug's Life, watched the Pixar Parade, and then went to the roller coaster (Kenlee and I watched). We went on the Haunted Mansion and Kenlee slept the entire ride. It was great as they changed the decor to the Nightmare Before Christmas. Then Candie, Blade, and I went on Splash Mountain. After that - we headed home.

Saturday we relaxed. Had breakfast, our friend Scott came over, we got in the hot tub, had dinner, and then Kevin and my dad went to the beach and went night surfing. Candie and Blade soon joined them and they all had a blast!

Sunday we woke up and went to breakfast and my family went home. We then went on a boat ride with Santa, visited an aquarium, and headed back to the beach house. We went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner and then went back to the beach house to relax.

Monday we relaxed again and packed to go home. It was a crazy day for weather - the ocean was dark and seemed angry.

We came home to snow, snow and more snow. It was soooo cold, but good to be home.

New things with Kenlee

So, Kenlee can tell us 'what a doggie says, what a cow says, and what a bear says'. She is learning so much and so quickly. She is so stuck on "Signing Time" right now. I love that she is learning while she is watching this show. If she likes TV it might as well be educational :) She can now sign eat, more, please, milk, all done, bird, fish, and car. With all this learning, she is also learning to pout and throw temper tantrums! Not so fun. We just let her do her thing and within about a minute she is done and back to doing her thing. Another thing with Kenlee right now is her obsession with our shoes, her shoes, and mommies stuff. As you can see from the photo above, she liked wearing mommies clothes!

Utah Games and St. George

Kenlee and I went down to St. George with Kevin's family. We stayed in the Halford's condo and had a great time. We went swimming, relaxed, drove to Vegas for the game, went on walks and watched movies. The UNLV game was great. We saw Nana Robin, got a picture with Swoop and the Utes beat UNLV. :) All in all we had a great time, but we missed Kevin!

In St. George Kenlee played in the sand for the first time and loved it. She also had a great time playing with her Cousin Rylee. Those two play so cute together.

The Hogle Zoo and Pizza

On Friday, October 9, we went to Hogle Zoo for the first time. We went with Grandma Lynette, Aunt Jen, Uncle Bryan, and Rylee. We saw the baby elephant (Zurri),
baby giraffe, the birds, bears, meerkats, reptiles, you name it...we saw it. Kenlee was more interested in pushing her stroller than the animals, but about halfway through she started paying attention to the animals.

After the zoo we went to Litza's Pizza for dinner and then to Grandpa and Grandma Russons. We had a great time, but we sure missed daddy!

Witchapalooza

We went to Gardner Village today for the Witch's Breakfast and we had a great time. We ate, saw the witches, took some pictures, shopped and then came home. Kenlee looked cute in her little witches costume:

Juicy Juice

Kenlee had her first Juicy Juice today. Of course she grabbed the juice box, gave it a squeeze and out came half of the juice. Thanks goodness Marlee was there to clean it up. :) The straw was an issue...she had to drink from it, pull it out and then put it back in. This went on for quite some time. When she took it out, she would need to share....
Marlee was a good sport. She was there every step of the way to clean up after Kenlee. :)

Utah Game

We went to Kenlee's first University of Utah football games. She had a blast. We drove up with Grandpa Boyd, Grandma Lynette, Grandma Russon, Rylee, Jen, and Bryan and met the rest of the family to tailgate before.

After eating, we headed in to the stadium. Kenlee had fun and was well behaved. At half time we went and saw the rest of the family and then had a snowcone. Kenlee loved it...go figure. :)
Utah beat Louisville 30-14. We had a great time. Glad we bought season tickets.

Our weekend and a new car seat

Kenlee and I went to the Dew Tour on Saturday (09.19.09) and watched the skateboard park and BMX park. Then we won a meet and greet with Ryan Sheckler all because I had a 1989 penny! It was awesome.
This week we bought Kenlee her "big girl car seat". I am so excited to have her facing forward...and she has seemed to love it. Here she is in her car seat:

Kenlee's First Year

Wow - time has flown by. It seems like just yesterday Kenlee was born. A lot has happened this year. Here is a quick update:

Kenlee's first month - She rode a horse and went on the Elk Hunt with dad. Her second month - she carved a Snow White pumpkin (with mom and dad's help of course), dressed up as a lady bug and really started smiling. Her third month - She took her first bottle, slept through the night, and celebrated her first Thanksgiving. Her fourth month - she celebrated her first Christmas and New Year's Even. She rolled over from her tummy to her back. Her fifth month - she started making a new face (scrunching her nose and mouth), sat in her high chair and started putting her toes in her mouth. At six months - she watcher her first Dayton 500 race, went to her first Jazz Game, rolled over all the way, had her first overnight babysitters (Grandmas), started clapping her hands. At seven months - she went to her first U of U Basketball game and the Sand Dunes. She ate rice cereal, bananas, sweet potatoes, green beans and prunes. She also got her first tooth. At eight months - she started clicking her tongue (pretending to call the deer). She had her first Easter and egg hunt and got her second tooth! At nine months - she celebrated Mother's Day and my birthday with me. She went to her first Bee's Game and walked in some 5ks with me. She also went to Bryce Canyon and went swimming for the first time. At ten months - she started pushing herself up from a crawl position to a sitting position. She started pulling herself up on things too. She started using sign language. We went to Yuba, celebrated Father's Day, and the Fourth of July. At eleven months - she took her first steps (August 4). She started giving kisses, went to Flaming Gorge and Yellowstone and brushed her teeth for the first time.

A lot has happened and I have loved every minute of it! Yesterday we celebrated her birthday. We had a polka dot theme and I used the colors pink, purple, and turquoise. They looked so good together. Our friend Ashlee made her cake and it turned out amazing.

After a frantic morning of cleaning, decoration, and getting the food together, friends and family showed up around 2. I made a 15 minute DVD of Kenlee and a memory photobook that everyone enjoyed. We had some light refreshments, opened presents, watched Kenlee eat her first cake and the kids hit a pinata. It was a great party and I can't believe my little girl is one!
